Solid! Strong! Coldsteel Quality Bush Craft axe! Dec 22, 2010
By C. Mayo I own three of these guys(one in the truck, house, and one dedicated to my pack, because of there true versatility and cost they can not be beat, they excel in the North American forest and hold and keep and edge like the old axes of yesteryear, they all needed some edge work out of the box for superior edge abilty, the hafts are all straight grained hickory that i would expect on a gransfors, i have experienced no head slip or grain splits in any of them, if you want true performance and overall toughness give this axe a throw, it is as close to perfect as you could get for a 23" inch boys axe for bushing it! someone over coldsteel did there homework for a change!

Good axe for the money Nov 21, 2010
By Mike T.
"Mike T."
This is a pretty good axe for the money. It did require some sharpening out of the box, but it holds up well and the high carbon steel seems to hold a pretty good edge. I didn't like the cheesy black looking blade so the first thing i did was use aircraft paint stripper on it. Came off like magic and I now have a beautiful well polished shiny axe head. For more information about this axe with a few more specifics, check out this review by woodsmonkey. They are much better writers and a lot more thorough than me. I ended up modding my axe the same as the one found on the link below. Its been a great axe so far and i have no plans on replacing it in the immediate future. [...]
I used braided three-color paracord to mod out the lanyard.
I did purchase a scabbard because the one supplied with it frankly is not very useful and kept falling off. I got it from the forestry supplier and had it shipped to the house. Its the model 33130. I have also included a link below for convenience. I spent about two weeks looking for one that fit and this is a pretty good one. It takes a little work for the initial fit, but once on, it stretches pretty good and fits like a glove. I could not find a proper fitting one on amazon.com.

I am very happy with my purchase so far. Thanks for reading

Lemon Feb 28, 2011
By Elliott The axe head was loose right out of the box. The whole thing just didnt look like it was put together very well. Maybe mine was a lemon, but someone had to put it in the box to ship it and even someone with no knowledge of axes should have known this one wasnt right. Normally i would think it just got damaged in shipping... but its an axe! What would they have done to it thats worse than smashing it into a tree? OOO well my $10 axe i bought from the hardware store works just fine.

perfect medium sized axe! Jun 05, 2011
By Jaybles Lots of bang for the buck that is sure! Almost gave it four stars because it does not come with any kind of sheath just a little rubber thing that goes over the blade; but it deserves five stars for sure. Light enoungh to do small work and stronng enough to take on some rather large tasks. It definately stood up to the tests I put it through! Came sharp out of the box. Came with a flat grind which I had never seen on an axe before but it sure gives it some bite! Light and versitile! Now that I have this I don't take a large axe or a hatchet anymore just the trail boss. I just ordered a custom leather sheath for it from jreindustries.com. Check them out they do the best custom leather work around and their customer service is top notch!

Nice camp/woodsman axe Jul 02, 2011
By Creektalker Right size and weight for small splitting and felling. The review I read about this was spot on. Very happy.
Found that the Levy's Leathers S65C Leather Axe Sheath (Walnut) fit's perfectly, so definitely order one with this, the rubber guard included won't last long.
Could use sharpening out of the box, but that's the case with most edged items.
