I have no complaints with Amazon.com. They handled every aspect of this very professionally and to my satisfaction. I purchased this AutoLoc BCTR2 Bear Claw Trunk/Hood Latch and Striker Bolt for the trunk of my 41 Chevy Street Rod. After fabricating brackets for it, installing it and making sure the alignment was correct I tested it by pulling lightly on the trunk lid with it locked. Trunk opened with very little effort. Thinking the alignment was off, I removed the Latch and Striker Bolt, and in my hands I could pull the Striker Bolt right through the Bear Claw. Assuming the latch was defective - I emailed Amazon.com and they sent a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement wasn't any better. Although not marked on the packaging, I suspect this latch is made in China. As mentioned in the title, there is either a design flaw or a quality control problem with this product. I have since found an AMERICAN MADE replacement (ALMOST exact design) that actually works.
