2Overpriced mineral oil  Jun 28, 2011
By Jim K
There's no question that it works. That said, the freely-available Material Data Safety Sheet lists only one ingredient: "White Mineral Oil." For that, they charge over two bucks an ounce. You can find mineral oil by the gallon for much, much less money. (Or, if you want your rifle to smell pretty, try baby oil. Still the same thing.) Refined petroleum distillates are the same no matter what bottle they come in; Hoppe's may mix a fine solvent, but their oil is no better than anyone else's.

4Works Just Fine  Sep 07, 2011
By Ricardo
I know that Hoppe's is generally used for firearm lubrication, but I use it on my pocket knives. Works just fine and doesn't tend to "gum up" anything the way that some other lubricants do.

I'd like to see Hoppe's release this product in a "syringe" type dispenser. This dispenser may be fine for firearms, but it's a little much for precision application to knife joints.

5Hoppe's Oil  Aug 24, 2010
By SM202
Tippmann recommended using this oil for their paintball markers. It works well and is compatible with the various seals (o-rings). Bottle seals well so it didn't leak during shipment. It's not as fancy as some of the newer lubricants, but it works and doesn't cause corrosion like some of the more expensive lubricants which are Chlorinated.

5Good oil for the price  Feb 07, 2012

You can't beat Hoppe's gun oil for the price. I use it after every cleaning to protect my investments. Cheaper on here than at the local sporting good shop.
