Awesome training and less-lethal self defense tool! Jan 17, 2008
By Jason Oates This is a pretty cool device. It's made of an extremely hard resin and is very durable. This works great a training, physical compliance or less-lethal self defense tool. It is rather lightweight, but it is still enough to fit in your pocket, but large enough to get the job done. The larger model, (the SD2) has a rounded dome at either end versus the somewhat more pointed ends of this SD1. (Note that it's not completely pointed and will not easily puncture material; at least without some extra force :) ) Overall a great device!

Good item, for what is is. Jun 14, 2009

"Stainless"
This is an inexpensive, simple to use defensive tool. Small and light enough to carry loose in a pocket - simple enough to employ under stress. (Get a good grip on it, then stab hard at whatever you can reach.)
This is obviously NOT some "miracle" device that makes the owner invinceable - but it CAN be a usefull option in some situations.
Cold Steel has been making good stuff for several years.

Def. tactics Oct 30, 2008
By Don The Koga, along with a Kuboton is a great tool for teaching women defensive tactics in what has become a more dangerous world. Used properly, it can save a life, although situational awareness is most important.

Koga SD2 Self Defense Tool Nov 06, 2010
By iggi It really is lightweight and you can really get a good grip on it compared to say a kubaton that was made out of a broom stick. The shape of it is ergo dynamic and will allow you to hold it closer to one end without sacrificing too much grip. You can look up videos on youtube of some guy piercing some pieces of plywood, which should mean that hitting someone with it will likely leave them bruised pretty badly, or at least run enough pain through them (if contact is made on an area with bone near the skin) to allow you to run off (it's self defense not offense).
It will nick over time, although I feel that most plastics would if hit with enough force. Breaking it, at least with two hands is not achievable (at least not by my friends who I bet wouldn't be able to break it), but again, it will probably break with enough force.
Since Pressure = Force/Area , the pointed (albeit, rounded) ends will multiply the damage done to whatever is on the receiving end.
I'll update this review if anything changes.

Light, lethal defense tool. Jun 13, 2010
By G. Frieland I carry this in my front pants pocket when I go into Mexico. Mostly for defense against muggers and drug addicts. A forceful blow with this anywhere on the human body will cause excruciating pain, particularly on areas with little fat and superficial skeletal features. Would work great for grappling too. And in combination with pepper spray.
