Amazon makes this a best buy with its pricing Dec 05, 2009

Very high quality; well balanced handling; solid feel and construction; VERY, VERY sharp right out of the box. Sheath is tightly sewn and has an attached pouch that makes for a very good gun clip holder. Knife will not bust through the sheath. I haven't seen this knife for less than $75 in my local retail stores that sell SOG products. Great for adventure camping.

Just because it's a SOG does not mean quality! Aug 28, 2011
By Fly Straight Tip bent within the first few strikes on a branch!
Not intended for serious use IE: camping or "THE JUNGLE".
I will be getting a KBAR for sure.

Great prop, horrible knife. Jan 01, 2011
By Spencer This knife looks very cool and mean and I think it was a smart move by the SOG marketing team. Would make a great prop in a Rambo movie or something similar. But for anyone who knows even a little about steel and knives in general, this piece is plain JUNK. The steel is horrible and is as cheap and low quality as you can find. The blade is thin and very easily damaged/broken. The balance is also bad. This is not a useful knife at all in that it loses it's edge just by looking at it and the light-weight flexible blade is horrible for trying to chop anything. The saw-teeth on the back are also useless in that you can't actually saw anything with them.
Don't get me wrong with this review... I'm a big SOG fan and own several of their products. (Trident, Seal Team). But the knives I own and like are made much better with much better materials. The Jungle Primitive is just plain junk and should be avoided like the plague by any real knife owners looking for a useful blade.

For show, not useful. Sep 23, 2011

This knife came in great condition, razor sharp, great sheath etc. however fierce looking it is it carries no weight. Tried it out in the backyard, a lot of force is required to cut anything down (which is what a survival situation would call for) not good for batoning, blade bends pretty easily which makes me nervous. The saw on the back is alright, but it's a little to short to be truly effective and was a little annoying. I don't think I would put my life in this knife's hands. It has some lanyard holes to strap it to a stick to make a spear I suppose? But a huge spear like that would be impractical. Fail SOG I have loved everything else SOG I have ever owned, but I'm sorry this is a toy.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RIWEI0E1J9ZCA The Jungle Primitive arrived packaged a bit poorly, the knife was covered in oil (to prevent rust?) however, the knife itself is full of features.
Pros: -The blade is stainless steel, comes pretty much as razor sharp as you would want on a workhorse knife, plus it has a no reflection black oxide coating
-the blade has two different degree serrations, the one on the back isnt too hard to use for small saplings (hope my neihgbors wont notice), while the serrations themselves contribute to the look of the knife.
-The handle has pretty good grip for the blade edge facing you or in front of you, plus the butt end of the knife has a tip addition that can be used to crack open things like a coconut, or a person's head (i didnt try the latter)
-comes with a nylon sheath which i also give 4 stars
-balance is biased towards the front, i find it helps with chopping motions.
Cons: - using the big serrations on the back gets a little used to, you have to make a little indent with the small serrations to start it off
-the price, hmm i guess its okay, but i got it on amazon quickpicks for a bit less
Overall, i would recommend this knife, especially if you go camping or go into the woods alot. This knife would also serve its purpose if you buy it to impress friends or scare off people you dont consider friends.
Update-March 15,2011
I went to go cut some barley grass, and i just so happened to use this knife, after owning it for quite a while, i never sharpened it, yet it was as sharp as the day i first opened the box. Cut through tough blades of grass (no match for blades of steel) with ease. Still Highly recommend this knife!
