Elite Products Elite 8oz Gun Cleaner

Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner cleans firearms to a level that is actually better than the firearm's original, pre-fired condition - which is far superior to what ordinary cleaners and even most advanced cleaners can do - and it does it up to 80% faster! Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner activates the surface of the gun metal, not just getting the surface cleaner, but also allowing oils and lubricants to penetrate at the molecular level for superior lubrication of moving parts.

  • Gun Cleaner 8oz

  • 026285517514

4Good but not the best  Feb 26, 2008
By Manasseh "Manasseh"
The good? There is NOT a strong smell so usually associated with gun cleaning fluid, in fact there is virtually no smell which is a good thing. Yes, it works but not nearly as good as the tried and true Hoppes #9 cleaning solvent which smells for days and lets your neighbors know you are cleaning your guns. Don't know if it is this stuff or some other lubricant purchased from Wilson Combat that did the trick, but there is less fouling/lead residue left on my guns after using this.

Overall a good product with virtually no odor and reduced fouling but not as good a cleaner as the Hoppes #9 so you make the choice based on what is most important to you.

5Great stuff  Nov 08, 2010

This product is very effective at removing fouling from your weapons. And unlike other cleaners (the army's CLP [clean Lubercate Preserve]) this has no odor to fill the room.

Use in conjunction with Hoppes Elite Gun oil or Bore Gel.

5Excellent product - my go-to cleaner  Dec 03, 2011
By C. Scott
This is the best all-around gun cleaner I've ever used and I have been shooting for 16 years. I am a long time fan of Hoppe's products and this one doesn't disappoint.

It is gentle on the hands and the lungs yet tough on carbon and copper fouling, grease, and dirt. Yes, it will remove copper as it does contain a solvent, but you'd never know it based on the smell and it's gentleness on your hands. This is a pleasant-smelling product, and you won't be banished to the garage when cleaning your guns anymore. It does not remove copper as well as MPro-7 LPX or Hoppe's Copper Solvent, but it will get a good bit of it out prior to using these other products. It does not harm synthetics, bluing, or wood and it won't hurt your standard, fiber optic, or tritium sights.

One thing you should be aware of is the conditioner in this product that is designed to condition metal to resist fouling. This product does leave a sticky film on wood and synthetic surfaces and I believe this conditioner is to blame for that. I haven't found that this conditioner interferes with the bonding to metal of high-tech lubricants or grease such as LPX or TW-25B (respectively). I like knowing that this film is present in places that only get cleaned when the gun is detail stripped. However, I don't like having to go back with another cleaner to wipe off my grip surfaces. While annoying, it isn't enough for me to deduct from it's five star rating and I'm willing to put up with the small inconvenience for how well this product works and how cheap it is on Amazon.

If you don't want the conditioner and you'd like a cleaner that doesn't have a copper solvent in it, look at Mil-comm Mc25 Firearm Cleaner/degreaser. It's a five star cleaner as well, but with a little different use-case.

5Odor free  Jul 13, 2011

It appears to work as well as Hoppe's #9. It does not have the odor. What more can you say?

5Great Product - Cleans Well - No Smell  Dec 30, 2011
By Dobrin'a
I've been mostly using it for my handguns (both: polymer and 1911) and so far cannot think of any complains. It has practically no smell, and delivers fast & plausible cleaning results. Granted, it usually comes a bit pricey but seems to be going on sale every now and then...
