It is ideal for dinner parties featuring salads and steaks that taste better with fresh-ground pepper and sea salt. Just press the button on top and let the mill go to work. The stainless steel grinding mechanism can be adjusted from fine to coarse, and a light will turn on automatically at the bottom when you activate the mill to help with accurate portion control at night. The nut underneath the mill controls the texture: turn clockwise for a finer grind, counterclockwise for coarser.

Never wrote a reveiw before. I received these as a gift for my birthday and ended up giving a few sets out at Christmas. I love these salt and pepper grinders, and even more I LOVE THE LIGHT! It sounds silly but the light is great! Get a set... you'll see what I mean!

wierd....plastic gears never lasted and they still dont Apr 20, 2011

purchased 2 of these mills for salt and pepper. it always 'bogged down' with peppercorns, but handled the sea salt with no problems. the salt grinder lasted 6 months before the PLASTIC gear that rotates the square metal shaft stripped out. and the grinder itself is plastic.

The unit works but it is not very powerful so that ground salt came out slowly. We used it to grind rock sea salt. It is a little disappointing.
