6 stars! Jan 27, 2009
By Mountain Medic HOLY CR@9 This is SHARP!
First off, right out of the box I know I had quality. The Finish, grip and workmanship are superb. The sheath fits so perfectly the blade secures snugly, is releasable with one finger pressure yet won't fall out, is reversible for right or left side carry by changing a few screws, the belt loop opens and secures with velcro and a heavy snap fastener for easy on/off or pack fastening. Nice comfortable carry.
The knife itself is a work of art. Matte black finish so smooth your eyes slip right off it. The flat edge is perfect, no imperfections or wobbles just a perfect flat surface. The back is wider than i'd thought, great hammering surface. The knife overall has a beautiful weight and heft but neither too heavy for carry or top heavy for use. The grip is soft textured grippy stuff. Not too fancy, but a good grip.
Then the blade.... ohhhhhh,,,, the blade....... The point is amazing. Flat backed and even, sharp like a needle. Dropped with the grip at waist height onto a paperback it penetrates 100 pages, a stab from about 6 inches pokes all the way through a paperback! The blade is smooth, polished and scary sharp. Cuts through cardboard like butter, cut through an old 'Guns And Ammo' one handed! I messed up my kitchen making confetti by cutting through whole magazines! Blade so smooth (And I kid you NOT...) i can shave the letters off of a page! (Took me a couple tries, kept cutting too deep. Actually able to shave halfway through a single piece of paper!) And it's a factory blade! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I can't wait to take this out in the field and put it to real work.
(Oh, and I don't work for, related to, or get any freebies from Cold Steel, but i'm a new fan. I've bought a shovel, tomahawk and more already.)

Not too shabby. Aug 21, 2008
By R. Soon It's not a real Khukuri, but it still chops pretty well. All in all, it's an ok product. Like I said, it isn't a real Nepalese Khukuri, but it's not bad either. Good steel, good edge holding, handle takes impacts well but Kraton grip gets to be sore on the hands after prolonged use. The kydex sheath it comes in is a plus, well designed and sturdy.
So all in all, not a bad khukuri shaped machete.
