The product they sent me is NOT the same as shown in the picture they posted and listed; however, it is still a Hoppe's cleaning kit. The product they sent me has the same items listed but just without the clam case that I hoped to get to store and protect the tools to clean my Rem-870. Although I am somewhat disappointed from this, I am pleased that they shipped it quickly and that it arrived very fast at my doorstep.

The seller still hasn't posted the correct image of what they are selling. They need to change the title of this product too because it isn't a clam case either.

The site updated the picture and I just noticed. But still, the picture does not match the product that was sent to me. I purchased this product in July 2010 from "MIDWEST MARINE & SPORTING GOODS" and now "BIC Superstore" posted another incorrect image of the product.
With that, I finally now decided to post a picture of what I received. I believe that online customers have a right to see what they're really buying, com'on now sellers, you guys were lucky I bought this product out of desperation but as you can see no one else bought it because you didn't do your job correctly the first time, for shame.
On to the next; now here's my review:
Pros:
- Good cleaning kit
- Comes with what you see in MY picture (also cleaning clothes behind the Hoppe's label)
Cons:
- Takes time to assemble, not very convenient
- This wouldn't be a con if they sent me the same product as shown in THEIR picture the first time BUT anyhow, the product is not the same as shown in THEIR pictures (mine should be the correct product unless they changed it again, God forbid)
- The darn description is wrong too! IT IS NOT A CLAM CASE!
Recommendation(s)/Suggestion(s):
- I bought this product and a bore-snake and what I conclude is that a bore-snake is a lot faster and more effective cleaning tool (the downside of the bore-snake is that it's harder to clean the snake itself and it can be on the pricer side); if you want to buy a bore-snake, I suggest you go to a gun convention and buy it there for a lot cheaper.
Overall this is a good cleaning product, everyone in the gun industry knows Hoppe's so the quality is perfect for cleaning. But like my recommendation/suggestion states, I say using a bore-snake is better and faster.
No aluminum rods for me Apr 29, 2012

I didn't purchase this item here but instead found it at the local sporting good shop. I have a new Rem 870 and needed a cleaning kit for it and this is the only one they had at the shop. Hoppe's is a good brand except when it comes to aluminum cleaning rods. I put the first two pieces together without a problem. When I was screwing in the third section it felt a little tight so I backed it out and started over to make sure I wasn't cross threading it. It got even tighter and then I couldn't back it out. I had to use vice grips to unscrew it and the threads were gone. My 870 only needs two lengths so I managed to get the handle and the end piece together. Then I go to screw in the shotgun adapter and same thing, stripped threads. I gave up and bought a different brand and type of cleaning rod off Amazon.
Pros: Everything except the cleaning rod even though I do notice that the brush and swab are also made out of aluminum. Not sure how long they'll last.
Cons: The aluminum rod is garbage. I'll stick to the coated steel rod that I purchased here instead.
I would not recommend this to anyone. Only reason it got 2 stars was because of everything else it came with.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy this. I purchased 2 of Hoppe's gun cleaning kits and both of them had the same problem, they were terrible. the cleaning rod bends if you even so much as tap it on a bed. everything else isnt good quality either. upon purchasing my first one of these kits i figured it was just a messed up one, but come to find out all of their products are terrible. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
