Carbon Rod Dlx 1-Pc Carbon Rod 17-20 Cal 36"

Carbon fiber is well-suited to the tough tasks assigned to cleaning rods. It combines the best features of stainless steel and coated cleaning rods, then adds valuable properties of its own. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, US military armorers called on Tipton to provide cleaning rods that would clean service rifles in demanding conditions. It made sense to us: Carbon fiber is an ideal material for cleaning rods. Stainless steel rods can scratch or wear barrels if they're used carelessly - though they won't pick up potentially damaging small abrasive particles. "Coated" rods get part of the job done - they keep the stainless steel shaft from damaging your barrel's rifling, but the coating will pick up small abrasive particles, which means you're effectively running fine-grit sandpaper through your bore. Carbon fiber rods are the best of both: the carbon fiber can't scratch your bore like stainless steel, and they won't embed like coated rods. We call these cleaning rods "deluxe" because they feature an ergonomically designed handle that spins on two sets of ball bearings - the result is a cleaning rod that smoothly follows the rifling both pushing and pulling, even while under pressure. The "shank-through" construction also allows the user to apply "reasonable" hammer blows to the end of the cleaning rod to get a tight patch through a bore.

5Great product  Jul 04, 2011

A little steep on the price but definitely worth it. You get what you pay for. I use this to clean my air rifles, and clear pellet jams. The product does not scracth my LW barrels, is lightweight, and highly durable. Recommended.

4Functional  May 13, 2011
By Reginald Oka
The cleaning rod does what it suppose to do and I have no complaints. I use it at the range to swipe the barrel of the .17 HMR after firing since it seems that accuracy becomes a problem when the barrel gets fouled, quite quickly. No assembly, just run a patch with cleaner lubricant down the barrel a couple of times and then its back to shooting. If anything at all, its handy. The downside is that it is rather long, but then for a single piece cleaning rod, that's what you get! I am completely satisfied and recommend it.

5Sleek  Nov 18, 2009
By John Crumbley "mustang 043"
I've used other .17 caliber cleaning rods but this is smooth velvet. Far superior to any of the others. Care must be taken when using though, unlike any other caliber, these rods are much more delicate. At first you may balk at the price but satisfaction will quickly follow.

5Tipton .17 Cal Cleaning Rod  May 23, 2012
By Charles E. Kenyon
The Tipton .17 caliber rifle cleaning rod is a high quality product. The bearings in the handle cause the rod to rotate freely and are rugged as they held up when I had to pound the rod thru the barrel when I used a patch that was too large. Fine product.

5Works Well, must buy jags especially for Tipton.  Mar 01, 2011
By DRR
I bought this to clean a .17 hm2. Works well after you have bought all the accessories for the rod. I also use Dewey and the jags are not threaded the same. The rod does not seem to pick up grit and the one I already own has lasted well.
