Great Knife Aug 13, 2010
By J. Harris
"KillinTimeWaistinAway"
I ordered this knife when in Iraq in 2008. First of all it got there faster than most of my care packages did. It served me well in all purposes from opening boxes to slicing 550 cords; I even used it to cut some thin gauge metal wiring, and it kept its edge surprisingly well. The sheath is solid and the handle is comfortable, the clip on the sheath makes it an excellent boot knife and holds the blade solidly with no retainer other than pressure. I would recommend this as an awesome boot knife in addition to any larger knife one may carry in the field.

Quality in a unique knife Oct 31, 2009

"Many Interests"
I've purchased several Cold Steel products recently and had pretty much expected a product that was ok, but not to expect too much from it in the way of quality. This particular knife was a surprise. While a quick glance may not be all that impressive, as I spent some time dressing the blade the differences started to make themselves known. The steel used in this blade is of a higher quality than I've found in some of the other Cold Steel products. I noticed that it has "Japan" etched on the blade which I take to be a hint about the quality of the blade. Getting a consistent mirror polished edge on this blade by hand took a while, but it produces a great looking enhancement that will likely hold that edge for some time. While the handle is fairly thin, maybe 3 times thicker than the thickest part of the blade, it does have a good feel that is comfortable to grip after spending a bit of time holding and working the knife. Cold Steel did this one right with the price in the right range for the quality, and has raised my expectations for some of their future products.

Very good knife Sep 18, 2009
By too complicated I am very pleased with this knife. It certainly meats the manufacturers advertised claims for quality. I bought the knife out of curiosity and now find that the clean lines, integrity of the blade and familiar feel in my hand make it a choice for many tasks I would not have thought of, based upon its shape. I am indeed very pleased with this knife.

It's PERFECT ! ! ! Nov 01, 2011
By AllisonWunderland I've been looking for a "boot knife" -- Benchmade makes a Harley Davidson Nightshift, at $100 it's over priced. I bought and returned a Smith & Wesson (crappy sheath), a Buck (poor sheath design) and a Kershaw (sheath was funky).
I have several Cold Steel knives: Trowing knife, Peace Keeper, Wood Handle carbon steel "Rendez-Vous" knife (black powder). The 1860 US Heavy Cavalry Saber is on its way -- ordered through Amazon (via Cabela's) the same day I ordered the Braveheart and it's companion Skean Dhu (FGX polymer).
Although the Skean Dhu is precisely the same pattern as the Braveheart, it will not fit in the Braveheart sheath. The Shean Dhu blade is just a bit too thick for the sheath. No matter.
Seath for the Braveheart is perfection! Knife fits snugly in either orientation, allowing the sheath clip to be used outside on a boot or inside on a belt. The clip is kydex and snaps into position. The sheath is Kydex and has lash points for straps, comes with a nice beaded black finish neck chain. The Braveheart is a perfect neck knife or boot knife. It's a dirk style w/ jimping on the blade spine. Blade is single edged. It's AUS 8A Stainless. Kraton grip is durable. (It's not rubber or plastic, but rather a durable hybrid polymer) Full length tang. Lanyard hole in grip is metal lined (probably stainless).
Nice letter opener. It's a dirk, intended for stabbing, but the blade is suitable for cutting and utility.
Fit and finish are perfection. I'm entirely pleased! Amazon delivered in two days, saved me about 50% over the price listed on ColdSteel.com
