My LaserMax Rod Laser Sight was recommended by my firearm safety class instructors. I received mine yesterday and it was an absolute breeze to install on my XD 4". The instructions are very clear and the parts are quality and fit perfectly. The laser performs excellently and is dead on. I would recommend this to anyone wishing laser assisted aiming.

I have thoroughly enjoyed using my guide rod laser for my XD .45. Without the laser, I can keep rounds within a 4 inch shot group at 30 ft. With the laser, it is exactly the same, but I don't require any time to aim. What I got was the ability to quickly aim and fire accurately. If I take time to aim with or without the laser, my accuracy is no different. I recommend this for people who have a hard time using regular sights to aim, want to aim faster, and have the extra money to dish out for it (since this isn't exactly cheap).
On a side note, this would be really beneficial for home defense at night when there isn't a lot of light available to aim with normal sights.

battery cap won't stay on rendering it useless, had it overnighted for this weekend, spent 2 hrs on the "simple install" now I am on a 12 hr shift in the dark, still no laser XD45 any tips?
Ok,
I figured it out, only took 2 days (in between work). The reason the cap kept coming off is because they sent the wrong battery back, I have a 4 inch Springfield XD45 which this says it is for on the box and the Product info. Apparently there may be different versions of the XD45 I am not aware of or the batteries were dead on arrival. I used the suggested replacement parts which is three 1.5v batteries (4.5v total)-separate- not in shrink wrap) and put the cap on and the laser comes on every time now, now to just shoot it awhile. Pretty odd that the guide rod fit perfectly and the gun functioned just no laser, I think anyone who orders this should check their XD45 Model VERY CLOSELY because the shrink wrap battery pack in this kit is 4 batteries and keeps pushing the cap off after install, whereas my XD45 only needed THREE Batteries. My SERIAL NUMBER STARTS WITH US.... I noticed my partners serial number starts with XD. So I have a TRUE XD45 not an XD in the 45. Caliber so I only use three batteries not the 4 that are included with this kit. Do your homework and don't go by the product verbiage.The manual is very small this online manual he posted makes it MUCH easier to see and understand THANK YOU SIR! This shoots dead on accurate and I give it 5 Stars! I took a bunch of pics this coulda been done in 10 minutes if I had the correct battery pack. It's cool though now that it is installed and works I LOVE IT!! Totally new gun!!!

Given the wide range of options I researched, this has to be the most elegant solution to the need for a laser sight. Does not add any bulk to your gun, the on/off switch is integrated with existing frame and you almost wouldn't know it was there if you didnt' know it was there!
I think this is a very well executed design; it doesn't get any better than this. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a laser sight that is integrated with your weapon; The intuitive on/off will serve you in good stead when it's dark and you don't have time to fiddle with hardware.
Read the Guide: I installed mine in under 5 mins, would have been 2 but I didnt' read the install guide first and had to go back and make sure I aligned the barrel side towards the barrel.
