Great Idea, needs to be sturdier. Jan 13, 2009

This device is a great idea waiting to be fully realized. When mine arrived there was already something rattling around inside it. Ended up being little bits of plastic that seemed to have caused no noticeable functionality problems. That said, about month after getting it one of the LEDs stopped functioning. It wasn't the LED itself as much as the connection into the main body of the device. If you wiggle the arm about you can get the LED to flicker on and off. It's just a theory, but I think the loose bits of plastic may have been from where the LED joined the base.
The LEDs seem a little dim when spread out, but do put out enough light for general tasks. When focused together the LEDs are comparable to some of the flashlights on the market. I would have liked them to be brighter as detail can sometimes be lost in the dimness.
The magnetic base is sort of magnetic, but weaker then I expected it to be.
Lastly, the flexible arm could be more flexible. I have the Gorrilapod tripod for my camera and it was that kind of functionality I was expecting, but that is not the case. The flexibility is more limited and trying to get the arm to conform to certain shapes appears to put a lot of stress on the connection to the body of the unit.
Bottom line, it works, just not as well as I had hoped and could really benefit from some minor design upgrades and better materials in it's construction.
